At 5 years old, Jason was diagnosed with IgA Nephropathy, an autoimmune disease that attacks and kills his kidneys. He had a transplant in May of 2004, but that kidney has now failed and he is in need of another. He is currently on dialysis 4 days a week, and once he receives the transplant, will be in recovery for anywhere from 2 to 4 months. During majority of his recovery time, Jason will not be able to work and will have limited means of providing income to financially support his family. Our goal is to raise $2,000 at this event to help financially aide his family during his recovery time.

In 2008, a group of BYU students organized the first Operation Smile 5K. Since then, the annual race has collected a total of over $10,000 to donate to Operation Smile. This has funded more than 40 surgeries for children who could not otherwise afford it.

Please join us this year for the 4th Annual Operation Smile 5K. The event will be held on March 26, 2011 at Mt. Timpanogos Park in Provo Canyon. This race is unique because much of the course follows a dirt trail in the mountains. The race will start at 10 AM. For those who do not wish to run, we will also have a 1-mile walk that starts at the same time. After the race, we will have a drawing for TONS of great prizes that have been donated by our sponsors. Racers will toe the line starting at the south end of the Mt. Ogden Park. Runners will make a quick transition from Mt. Ogden Park into Marquardt Park and follow the creek southeast until they reach the trail. The trail will join a service road heading south until it reaches the 36th street trailhead. From the 36th street trailhead, follow the single track up towards Strong’s canyon. After crossing the first bridge take the first left onto the lower foothill loop trail and head north to 29th street trailhead. Once at 29th street trail head take a quick hydration break for the ONLY AIDE STATION on the race course. Leave the aside station and head up the trail until it joins a service road. Once you reach the service road take a left and run north towards Taylor Canyon. At the BST intersection take a left and run north for a short distance until you reach the BST again. At this intersection head right up towards Taylor canyon until your reach the first bridge in Taylor Canyon. Take a right and cross the bridge then run back down to the BST. Once you reach the BST take a left and run south crossing Waterfall Canyon until you reach Strong’s Canyon. At Strong’s Canyon take a right and run town the trail heading back towards the 36th street trailhead. Once back at the 36th street trialhead take a right on the service road and follow it back to the start/finish area. The course has about 400 feet of climbing and short technical downhill sections.

RUN FOR RON 5K WALK/RUN

Pancreatic cancer is the fourth leading cause of death in the United States. This is one of the most aggressive and deadly cancers there are. I only know this now because my dad was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in October of 2010. His prognosis was very grim. Traditional medicine gave us little hope with a 4-6 month life expectancy. My family is pursuing alternative medicine which has thus far been successful. He is in his fifth month since being diagnosed and he still plays basketball twice a week and can run a 7 minute mile. We are very hopeful that these methods will save his life. Unfortunately alternative methods are not covered by insurance. Due to this we have organized a 5K Walk/Run to help shoulder the costs of my dad’s medicine. Cancer affects so many people. Please join us on April 9th 2011 to fight this deadly disease one step at a time. Let’s fight this fight together.

Course:
Starts at the Olympic Legacy Bridge on the campus of the University of Utah, the site of the 2002 Winter Olympic & Paralympic Athlete's Village. The gentle course then skirts through the municipalities of Holladay, Murray, South Salt Lake and Salt Lake City and County. The route runs around the base of the towering Wasatch Mountains, passes by cozy neighborhoods and elegant estates and winds through Salt Lake's legendary wide streets, into the city center, via Liberty Park.

Here, the music will absolutely rock, the energy will surge, and crowds of enthusiastic spectators will cheer participants on, all the way to the spectacular finish at the Olympic Legacy Plaza at The Gateway, in downtown Salt Lake.

Local runners may be familiar with the trail known as “Sunrise Loop” or “Powerline.” This trail runs along the west hills parallel to I-70 in Richfield and is a favorite for its steep climbs and scenic views. This trail comprises the main section of this exciting race. The course will cover approximately 4.3 miles of varied terrain, including the required crossing of a wide run-off creek, along with portions of the paved bike trail.
The top three male and female finishers will receive, respectively, $100, $75, and $50 gift certificates to Christensen’s in Richfield. All runners will receive a t-shirt and post-race refreshments.
Race date and location: Saturday, April 16, just west of the North I-70 exit in Richfield
Race start time: 8 a.m.

Thanksgiving Point’s 2nd Annual Half Marathon, 5K, and Kids Fun Run benefits the recently announced Museum of Natural Curiosity.

As a nonprofit 501(c)(3), Thanksgiving Point will use one-hundred percent of the race proceeds to benefit it's Museum of Natural Curiosity project. The new museum will offer spaces for families to explore the world through play in a fun and educational environment. Five exhibit areas will cover topics ranging from science and art to the environment and world cultures.

The Half Marathon kicks off at Water Tower Plaza and leads runners through the Thanksgiving Point Gardens at the height of the annual Tulip Festival, the Thanksgiving Point golf course, and several miles along the scenic Jordan River Parkway Trail. The Kids Fun Run starts at Electric Park and trails through Thanksgiving Point’s Farm Country.

Thanksgiving Point is offering prize money for open and master divisions. Awards will be given to the top runners in all divisions. All participants receive a race shirt and gift bag. All finishers receive a finisher’s medal.

Well let us introduce you to the new race in town…THE DIRTY DASH. This race puts all other races to shame. The Dirty Dash is where a military boot camp meets your inner five-year-old’s fantasy and subsequently converts boy to man and then…man to swine.

You’ll need endurance to trudge up mountains of sludge, courage to overcome uncompromising obstacles, a complete lack of shame to wallow in pits of mud and a smile to show through at the end!

So let this 10K obstacle course become your new guilty pleasure. Go solo or with 4 of your dirtiest, filthiest, & uncouth friends. On either accord…you will be able to look at yourself in the mirror and say “I am a Dirty Dasher!”… and then proceed to clean yourself off.

This is an off-road/trail/no pavement course. There are both intense up & downhills, rocky terrain, and beautiful views. It may seem a little out of most people's normal race idea at first, but once one gets on any of the Cascadia courses, they fall in love with trail running. It is definitely an adventure on both the mind and the body, but completely worth it in every way!

You will hop, skip, jump, slip and scramble your way through obstacles and mud to become one of Utah's OFFICIAL "Dirty Girls". And with fun like this... "Who needs a man?"

This is an all women's event with a portion of proceeds benefiting gynecological cancer research at the Huntsman Cancer Institute. So whether you bring him along to watch YOU wallow in the slop for a while, or you leave him home to take out the trash and cut the grass, you and your best gal pal's will certainly come away with some good honest dirty fun. We took a motocross course with gnarly jumps and added as many obstacles like steeplechase water barriers, hay bales, logs, Equestrian hedges, tires, and rope bridges to make the ultimate running experience.
RunnerCross is a mesh between Cross-country, insane obstacles, and Motocross.

Run it as an individual 5K (3 laps) or as a 9 mile 3 member relay team. Can you imagine running this insane course handing off, and then getting two chances to better your time?

RunnerCross is the most spectator friendly running event on the planet. Every step of the race can be viewed from 360 degrees around the track...Or watch it from one of our spectator infields.

Instead of running in the heat of mid-morning, ever wanted to run a half marathon race in the middle of the night, under a full moon? You can get your chance at the frouth annual running of Utah's Mapleton Moonlight Half Marathon, which is run in the thick of summer but at night, so the air should be cooled off by the time runners begin their race, between 9:00 and 10:00 PM in the evening.

Planned as a fundraising event for the Mapleton Lateral Canal Parkway Trail -- a paved trailway for running, walking, cycling and hiking that will stretch from nearby Springville at the Hobble Creek Parkway Trail to Spanish Fork, just north of Mapleton -- the race is open to a maximum of 700 entrants, and follows a point-to-point course that starts on Canyon Drive, near the intersection with Left Fork Hobble Creek Road, and finishes at Ira Allen Park in Mapleton.

Gridiron Rival Relay is your opportunity to compete with 11 of your closest friends and family for up to 36 hours leading up to the big game. Each 12 person team will start at Rice Eccles Stadium and run along the most BEAUTIFUL and REWARDING course in America! (If you doubt us just ask any local runner.) Winding through the Wasatch Mountains down to Lavell Edwards Stadium. This is your chance to run more than just your mouth during rivalry week. Welcome to the 2011 Racing Cane 10k, 5k and 1k kids race presented by SBR Sports. This race benefits children living in the impoverished cane shack communities of the Dominican Republic who travel an average of 5 kilometers to school – many without shoes on their feet.

Run13 and the Racing the Cane Foundation are committed to improving the lives of these children in the Dominican Republic’s sugarcane fields. Our goal is to encourage local community involvement in raising both scholarship funds and shoes for distribution. During this year’s Racing Cane event, runners will have the opportunity to collect and donate shoes. After the race we will journey to the Dominican Republic to distribute the shoes and host a free running event for the children there. Part of your registration fee will go towards sponsoring Dominican children to attend English academies, as those who speak English have a greater chance of attaining further education, becoming employed, and thus breaking out of the sugarcane fields. We believe that education and enterprise can help stop the cycle of poverty and give these children the option of a better life. Come join us and the Racing the Cane Foundation for this important event. All 10k and 5k runners will be chip timed, receive gender specific Tech Shirts, and enjoy a party at the finish line with Magelby’s Fresh breakfast, massages, bounce houses and face painting for kids!

*All kids who sign up for the 1k kids race will receive a race T-shirt and enjoy the same party and race atmosphere as the rest of the runners!

Join us for the 2nd annual Great Lakes of Utah relay race. The race will go from Lake Point Utah to Saratoga Springs Utah by way of Middle/Butterfield canyon. Awards will be presented at 5:30 PM at the Inlet Park in Saratoga Spring. Each team will consist of anywhere from 1 to 10 members who will each take turns running various lengths in order to complete the 49.7 mile journey.

The race will start at 9:30 at Pioneer park, 150 South 500 East in Lindon, with a hot breakfast to follow at 10:30! There will be music, drawings/prizes, and t-shirts for all participants! WE WILL BE AWARDING THE TOP MALE AND FEMALE FINISHERS WITH A $50 CASH PRIZE!!! There will also be additional gift certificates to 26.2 Running Company for the top three finishers in both male and female. If running just isn’t your thing, we will be selling “breakfast only” tickets as well. 100% of the fund-raised money will be used to benefit our studio, so come support Extreme Rhythm!

The race will be professionally timed by 26.2 Racing Services and the times will be posted here on the website after the race.

Your race registration includes the cost of breakfast. "Breakfast only" tickets will be sold at the event: $5 for an individual and $13 for a family pass.

The Oktoberfest is an event designed for all types... from the runner to the eater!

The night's events will start with the 5K at 4:00 PM. “Is it the Root Beer or the loops around the park that are making me dizzy!” With each one mile loop around the park you are given the opportunity to down some root beer. You’ll also be greeted by a few crazy obstacles, making you grateful its just rootbeer in your cup!

After the 5k at 5:00 PM there will be a hot dog eating contest, and root beer chug, a best Lederhosen costume contest, a three legged race, and a wheelbarrow race. Oh and did I mention music? There will be lots and lots of music and dancing. We will be having live local bands performing throughout the night.

Come run with or without your dog in the Top Dog 5k-9 race or 1-mile fun. This is a scout Eagle project raising money to benefit the Orem Police Department’s K-9 unit. They are in need of a bullet proof vest for their newest dog and other K-9 supplies to help keep our city safe. All participants welcome (even furry ones on a leash!) Come have fun and help keep your city safe! All proceeds go directly to the K-9 unit.
